About Us

The Wayne Township Fire Department protects 36 square miles of west central Indianapolis. Last year WTFD responded to 22,435 emergency calls. The department responds from five firehouses staffing five Engines companies, two Ladder companies, three Shift Battalion Chiefs, three shift Safety Officers, three Shift EMS Duty Officers, and four Advanced Life Support Ambulances. 130 Firefighters and 30 Civilian EMS personnel work 24 hours on and 48 hours off. An additional 20 civilian staff are required to maintain the department in readiness.

In addition to emergency response, Wayne Township Fire Department provides Building Inspections, Fire Investigations, Vehicle Maintenance, Building and Grounds Maintenance, Public Education, Project Lifesaver, CPR, and other services.
