The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for inspections and code enforcement of all buildings in Wayne Township, and is charged with the investigation of all working fires. Additionally, the division assists with public outreach/education programs, installing and delivering smoke alarms to residents, and oversight of the Knox program.
In 2020, even during the midst of the pandemic, Wayne Township Building Inspectors completed 3866 building inspections, covering over 82 million square feet. Additionally, 195 new construction projects were initiated resulting in oversight of over 8 million square feet of new building space.
Our fire investigators responded to 184 runs in 2020. This number included 41 alarm/code enforcement requests and 143 fire investigations, which resulted in 5 arrests.
